Koning Willem I College in Oss is part of a broad mbo organisation with several locations in the region. At the Oss campus, a wide range of programmes come together, from technology and healthcare to ICT, construction and Lifelong Learning. Every day, students and staff of different ages and backgrounds use the building. This creates a constant dynamic and a lively campus environment.

The entrance hall and atrium were still largely arranged as they were at the time of completion. Functional, but no longer aligned with current use. The ambition was to turn this place into a campus. Not a circulation space, but a place where people stay. Where meeting, waiting, working and relaxing naturally come together. The space needed to be flexible and suitable for events and informal activities. From this ambition, the concept of the Sticky campus emerged.

The Sticky campus is conceived as an open learning environment. Education, meeting and staying overlap here. The atrium no longer functions as a passageway, but as a place to pause. Between classes. For a conversation, a brief meeting or a short break. The interior supports this daily rhythm and turns the space into a natural centre of the campus.

Within this setting, Mezza plays a calm role. Present, without stepping into the foreground. Its soft shapes and open configuration respond to the scale of the space. They allow movement and guide use, without fixing it. Mezza invites people to sit down and use the space in an informal way.

The strength lies in balance. The layout brings calm to an environment that is constantly in motion. Without limiting its liveliness. Spaces for short meetings, interaction and relaxation emerge naturally. At the same time, the area remains clear and flexible in use.

In a campus where learning does not only take place in classrooms, but also in the spaces in between, Mezza supports those in-between moments. Moments of contact, exchange and relaxation. Exactly where an educational environment comes to life.
